This the sort of thing you`re thinking about?

Good build with some tips on the RPF here:

Cool - was thinking more of a Colonial Battlestar Group - wonder if there`s a Valkyrie in the same scale?

Thought I might open up the central parts of the engines to show some pipework detail although the plastic here is quite thick and proving problematic for my normal carving techniques. Will have to rethink if it will be worth the effort.

Okay, some drilling and cutting done today on the first of the eight engines.

Marking up the area to be removed:

Removing the central joint:

Area cut out:

Using various bits of styrene to create inner pipework:

Covered up (will look better once painted I hope!):

That one took a while but now I have a template I just need to do this seven more times ... lol

How did I know that at least one of you wasn`t going to be able to resist the lure of the drill...lol

Looking good.

I honestly wanted to build it OOTB, but just can`t resist ... I`m guessing all the PE & resin aftermarket kits would make it shine (as well as lighting it), but that`s not going to happen!

Shame it only comes with one name option, would like to call it something else (as I would the Jupiter-class).

Nice work so far Mark.
There is a Valkyrie available in the same scale, TimeSlip Creations produce one. Mine arrived just before Christmas, quite small but very finely detailed.

Thanks Dave, didn`t realise that Valkyrie was the same scale.

Have added a couple more bits of detail, not screen accurate but never mind. Have used some Wave/Kotobukiya detailing parts to jazz it up a bit:

Biggest error I have made is adding the guns at this stage. I have nearly broken a few through handling the kit and they are a lot bigger than you think they would be looking at the CGI examples.

Lesson learnt for next time ...
