Re: Battlestar Pegasus

Well I was well and truely gobsmacked earlier today when a parcel arrived from Pete and inside was the Moebius Battlestar Pegasus.  So a massive thanks to Pete for his generosity in sending this.  But it came with a catch that there had to be a build diary.  So true to my word here is the start.

Moody and dark. Sorry about that.

So not much time tonight as packing to go away but did get just a short while and cracked out the sprue cutters and got going.

Just one landing bay done but it pretty much flew together.  Just a very small amount of filler going to be needed to fill in a couple of very small gaps on the main arms.

Plan will be do this the same as the Galactica kit I built, which was done as the Excalibur for the Viper build.

So will need to wrack my brains to remember the process for that.  But it did use the Accreation decals, so will have a look and see if they do them for the Pegasus as well.

Don`t expect anything more for a couple of weeks but with Christmas coming up you will see some updates.

And once more a bit thanks to Pete!

So looks like Accreation haven`t released any decals this time round.  Anyone know of any alternative source?  Would like this to match into the Galactica as much as possible and the decals (while a royal pain) give a heck of a lot of fine detail.

Paragrafix are doing an internal docking bay set and an external set to detail the hull. Also name id decal set.

Nice Alun, this is on my `to get` list. Are you planning to get the Catalyst Creations upgrade kit for it?

Will have a look for the Catalyst set but not going to go for the Paragrafix etch.

Really thinking just those hull decals to match in with the Galactica. Might have to do my own though.

Re: Battlestar Pegasus

I`d love to have a go at one of these Battle Stars. Maybe just a kit rather than something scratch-built, like the behemoth being built in the US, which is about 20` long! :-)

Looks like the detailing on this is quite nice. A detailed hangar as well will really make it pop. Are you lighting it at all, Alun?

I have one of these Alun. A great kit and considerably larger than the Galactica.

Well some really great progress last night.  This really goes together nicely.  Did get bit bored doing the engines so still got 4 to do.  And no changes what so ever from the stock version.

The underside isn`t glued up yet and is just snapped into place.  So just got those last 4 engines and the real piece to do.  And add the guns as well.  So nearly ready for some clean up, a tiny smidge of filler, and then the painting can start.
