Re: Colonial One

Picked this up from Pete at the weekend and thought I`d throw it together quickly to see what it`s like.

First impression is that it`s quite small.  10 inches long according to the box. Which makes it a bit spindly looking.  Considering it`s not scaled to anything else they could have made it a bit bigger I feel.

Second thing I noticed is that there is a not inconsiderable amount of flash on the sprues.  This is a brand new kit and bit surprised by this.  Fortunately the clean up is pretty simple though.

So assembly is pretty simple and didn`t take very long.  Got it primed in white and put some blue on the underside (probably a bit too blue but going with it now).  Not going to be religious about this so have gone a bit free style for the engine areas, which are picked out in 3 shades of grey.  These will get some washes on.

Need to give it a gloss coat before adding the decals and then will get some washes on there to bring out the textures.

Opinion at the moment: Wouldn`t rush out to get one but should look pretty good on the shelf.

Blimey, can't believe that I posted that nearly a year ago and haven't got any further with it to be honest.  I got this because it had been ordered for someone by error/mistake/whatever but was spare so took it.  Not really a kit I was burning to get but thought it would be an OK build.  Once the Star Wars weekend is over I'm hopinh I can get back to finishing off some of the stuff that's part done as there is building up a lot of it.  Got the Pegasus to finish as well which just needs decalling the engines.  Plus some Iron Man kits as well which wouldn't take a lot to get completed (Igor needs weathering and Starboost just needs some tidying up).
