Re: Boba`s Slave 1

This kit has been on hiatus for several years. It`s the 1/72 FM Slave 1 (Boba`s version) and is one of my favourite ships from the classic SW era. Assembly went really well, it was just when I got the paint stage that things went a bit *meh*. So I put it to one side and got depressed every time I looked at it.

But, with the Star Wars exhibition coming up, I figured now is a good time to come back to it and, to be honest, I don`t really know why I stopped when I did.

Here is where it is currently at:

I didn`t get the red quite right and the green patches are a bit too dark, but now I figure, let`s just get the rest of the paint on, dirty it up and say it`s post-RotJ so has darkened with age ... not that bothered about ultra screen-accuracy, just want to have it finished.

Just need to hunt down the canopy (which is in a box somewhere ...)

Stay tuned!

Well, have just put the green bits on (a bit of masking and some freehand). Had to mix up my own green so had to do it all in one sitting ...

It is definitely going to be heavily weathered :)

Coming along nicely. Not 100% accurate with the colours or the weathering, but I`m happy enough.

I have a diorama in mind, so am doing a shout out to see if anyone has any Micromachine/Galoob Jawas going spare? If not, I`ll try a different approach.

Not got any spare, but had to get some myself a few years back for a charity piece and they were easy enough and quite cheap if bought loose on the `Bay

Thanks to my daughter`s excellent sculpting ability, I don`t need to buy any now :)

We came up with a really good idea for the diorama - which will be unveiled on Friday.

Looking forward to the unveiling... Great looking Slave 1 there. As for the weathering, it looks right, but if someone queries it at a show, surely you are entitled to poke them in the eye!

My "excuse at the ready" is that this depicts Slave 1 after the events of RotJ and before TFA, so let them tell me what actually happened to it. They may say that "In Dark Empire II, Boba has Slave I back" but perhaps he had to get it back from the Hutts after it was `recovered` by the Jawa on Tatooine - who knows?

Failing that, I`ll just poke them in the eye.
