Re: Klingon Battle Cruiser

With many thanks to Richard Stone for the heads-up on this kit going for a snip in TK Maxx, i had to have one again.

A CLASSIC design, way ahead of its time, the last time i made one was about 1979 i guess - and that one ended up with its command whatever-you-call-it sawed off and an Eagle beak stuck in its pace (yes really. Martin Bower i`m not).

So i thought it was about time i had another one.

Bought one, opened the box and - what a difference: new tooling means more parts, much crisper detail, the addition of panel lines and a very comprehensive decal sheet.

In short, a not very 60`s kit at all.

Building was very straightfoward and part fit was very good - enabling me able to leave the topmost section off in case i choose to light it, the fit is so snug and tight.

But, what colour do i do this thing?
Its from the original series, so guess must be the Mid-Grey that it appears to be on the show.
But this new tooling has the intricate panel detail that wasn`t on the original, but was on all the Klingon craft in the films and subsequent series that followed.
So i`ve taken my cues from them - and especially Star Trek Into Darkness - and have it as a down and dirty, beat up craft, with no order or cleanliness about it.
So, first up a basecoat of Tamiya JA Grey, which is a lovely grey/green affair:
