Re: Thunderbird 6

I suspect that I`m not the only one thinking about building the new Airfix Tiger Moth as Thunderbird 6.

Just to let you know, I`m working with a decal supplier for a set of decals for this biplane.

If anyone`s interested, post here.  I`ll keep track and let you know when they`re available, how to get them and how much.

I admit I had to look that up as I couldn`t think what Thunderbird 6 looked like.. makes a lot of sense now.. don`t think i`ve seen that one before? was it in one of the movies or a specific episode?

Quick synopsis of the film "Thunderbird 6" - the second Thunderbird film after "Thunderbirds Are Go!"

Jeff Tracy asks Brains to come up with a new Thunderbird.  Brains is perplexed because Thunderbirds 1 through 5 do everything so why do they need a Thunderbird 6. After a few adventures (most of the movie), Brains rescues most of the main characters using a DH Tiger Moth biplane.   At the end of the movie, Brains announces he has a new Thunderbird and taxis out the Tiger Moth in Thunderbird 6 livery.  Chuckles all around from the Tracys.

Both Thunderbird films are available on DVD.  Check eBay or your local discount store.  I got my boxed set at a discount store for $5 and it had little press out cardboard Thunderbirds and a sheet of Thunderbird refrigerator magnets.  Be still my heart!

An update.

I have a decal supplier working on the Thunderbird 6 decals right now.  I expect to have a test set in a few weeks.

I will post photos of the decals and how they fit on the model when I receive them.

Post here if you`d be interested in a set.

Hi Jim

If you need it, I do have the official Airfix guide to rigging the Tiger Moth which was presented in one of their club magazines. It`s not too difficult, so I don`t want you to think I`m insulting your intelligence! Just PM me with an email address and I`ll send them right over. Same goes for anyone else who may want them.

No news on the Thunderbird 6 decals but PM sent.

And no, you are not insulting my intelligence.  I rigged my first biplane last year - the Airfix 1/72 Gloster Gladiator - and it was challenging!

After nearly 2 1/2 years, JBot Decals finally came through with a set of decals for Thunderbird 6 that will fit Airfix's 1/72nd scale Tiger Moth.  Truthfully, the decals are not without challenges (read that as you will need decal solvent, a sharp razor blade and good screen grabs).  However, they will work.

If you're interested, go to the JBot decals site - www.jbot.ca - and ask about availability and cost.  Be warned Jim is not very swift at filling orders and has a tendency to ignore most e-mails.

Will post pics when complete (trying to finish it in time for Wonderfest).
