Re: Welcome to Tatooine

So the build I`ve come up with and will lead for the show is a Tatooine based scene.  My vision for this at the moment is the moment when the Sandtroopers find the escape pod from the Tantive IV and the trooper says "Look Sir, Droids".  But I intend to expand this for visual interest to include the said droids behind a dune, Sandcrawler in the distance and Bantha/Sandpeople as well.

To make the scene work best plan would be to introduce some forced perspective into it.

So my current shopping list looks something like this:

Dewback: Pete has a Sandtrooper on Dewback which he has offered but at least 1 further one would be good.  1:12 scale but could be smaller and placed further back in the scene for perspective or could be a junior one.

SandTroopers: Again 1:12 scale which is exactly what the new Bandai figures are.  These are due to be released very soon.

Escape Pod: 1:12 scale but likely need to be scratchbuilt.

Droids: For the perspective to work these probably need to be smaller.

Sandcrawler: Likely a small one such as Micromachines or even a paper one would work as this would be at the far back of the scene.

Banthas/Sandpeople: Not aware of any pre-made options on these at the moment.

Snake-thing skeleton: the dead thing that the droids walk past in the desert

That`s where I am at the moment.  Is there anyone out there willing to help out in populating the scene?

Many thanks

I could probably sculpt the skeleton if no one esle wants to do it. I`d just need a scale.

Its a Krayt Dragon, its loosly based on a diplodocus skeleton with alterations.

I`ve not got as far as working that out yet.  The scene is about 800mm front to back and going to use 1:12 scale at the front.  Have had a crazy idea which might mean I wont need a physical model.

Would it be OK to get back to you on that one?

No problem Alun. It gives me an excuse to print more stuff off.

I`m so deeply involved with trying to get Ripley sorted at the mo, but if you want small droids, I do have the 72 scale R2D2 from the fine molds X-Wing kit, just cooling his heels. He`s 1.5cm tall. You`re welcome to him, if he`s going to be of any use.

Thanks Marten and obviously no problem.  We have a load of those for the Hanger Display so well sorted for the small ones.

Thanks Paul.  I`m off on hols very soon and will start planning this more carefully upon my return, so will be sure to let you know about the skeleton.  Probably going to have to wait until I get the Bandai Sandtroopers through before I can plan very much more though.

Hello Alun, Apparently Star Wars Imperial Assault are intending to produce sand people with a bantha this year! Check out Fantasy Flight Games. If you have not already played this game, its like a wargame. So the fiqures are more in scale with D&D, warhammer type games. Hope that this proves of some use?
