Re: Paul`s Build. Eldar Crimson Hunter

I just managed to squeeze this in. Time has been my enemy the last few months, not to mention major hand surgery! But all is well, hand is working (more or less) and I have managed to complete my project.

Its a bit basic, no modifications in the end. The model did not end up being suited to being posed as a landed ship as the angle and sweep of the wings is very deep. landing gear would be enormously long.

Progress before Christmas

Did quite a lot of basic construction with all the model parts primed in black and then coated in flat black. I painted the pilot and the cockpit and added that in.

I hastily constructed a basic paint scheme losely based on my son James` craftworld scheme of deep purple and sky blue. I wanted to do the ship so he could, in theory, use it in his games.

I really missed my airbrush on this project as there were things I would love to have done. in the end I tidied up the black base coat and the oversprayed very gently using a can of

Montana Gold

I had read mixed reviews of these, and indeed, the paint is quite dense and you need to judge your diatance well, but it worked fine for me and i got a nice graduated layer.

The colour was pure purple, although the iPad has adjusted the colour balance slightly.

I then brush painted stars and the energy streamers, building up using many thin layers.

So here it is, all done and dusted. I just used the standard flying base as this will be part of James` battleforce, but I was quite pleased with the finished product.

I did a little fine weathering using weathering powders to enhance the panel lines and panelling. but other than that I kept it fairly clean.

Enjoy.
