Re: Star Trek Shuttle Pod

I have a question for those serious Trekkies out there (I`m a ST fan but not massively die-hard about it, truth be told) re the above named vehicle. Does anyone know if one of these little guys appears in any TNG episode at all? If it does, "whoopee", because that will be my comp entry; if not, buggerit, because then I need to find something else fairly easy and quick to build.

I found a 1/48 scale paper-craft version on-line, which is very cute indeed and simple to transfer to styrene. Of course (before Alun says anything) I did scale up the paper templates to 1/12. I`ve already made a card version from those templates, to see how fiddly it is to build. Answer is, not very much at all.

So, someone please tell me the damn thing is in TNG or I`ll have to start hunting again.

There was a shuttle pod in TNG, it was a little boxy affair so might not be the one you are thinking of: http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Type_15_shuttlepod.

If you are thinking of the ones that were in the Trek Movies, they might still be around and in use somewhere in the Federation - I would just update the markings to TNG era :)

Ah ha! Actually that design will do nicely. I think I prefer it to the movie type. Thanks for the link. :-)

Re: Star Trek Shuttle Pod

Right, been a-hunting stuff on-line these last few minutes and found a couple of nice sources for the hull shapes etc, ship dimensions and what-have-you. So should be able to have a start at this soon. Will get printing later tonight, after we`ve finished decorating the tree and put the monsters to bed.

Got some styrene sheet on order, too. We`re in the process of re-arranging the bedrooms and it was whilst moving stuff around in my den that I (re-) discovered a large plastic shopping bag FULL of all the styrene off-cuts and sheet segments I`ve saved over the last four years...so materiel-wise I`m sussed I think.

Will create a thread soon when I`m ready to go.
