London Meet

SFMuk Admin » Jan 6 '16

Few years ago (probably more than I am aware) we had a meet in London which was attended by a handful of people.  Last time we went to Comet Miniatures and Forbidden Planet.  Comet has gone now so not as much to occupy a day, but open to suggestions.

Just wondering if there was any interest in repeating this at some point in the year?

I'd be up for it, rotas permitting.

Like you day, not much in the way of modelling venues now Coemts gone, but there is the Orcs Nest, Forbidden Planet, Cinema Store and Oribital comics all within walking distance.

Re: London Meet

What about comicon weekend, we could set up a fringe event (in a pub) and invite

special guests from the practical film prop/ sci fi model making industry to pop in and

get interviewed about what they do to stick it up on here as a prop makers expose' on SFM.

We get to meet model making professionals and ply them with drink and as there going to be

at comicon anyways.

Just a random thought as i would really like to go to comicon and you know two birds, one stone lol.

Dame shame about comet for all there faillings it was a little gold mine for odd kits from way

back in the day that needed saving and locking away in my kit stash laughing

Curses! ComicCon is my wife and I's Anniversary weekend so, as amazing as she is, I do not think she would be up for it.

Loving your ambition there!  Not sure that's entirely doable to be honest though as would be a really massive task and not something I could even consider taking on just at the moment.  Although interesting idea to maybe do something online with set series of questions.  Will have to think about that a little more.

Not sure the Comic-Con weekend would be the best time as I know a few people would be going to that specifically and it's absolutely mentally busy. Personally would prefer a different option to that in any case.
