Nuts and bolts

Ian Thorley » Jan 4 '16

Hi all,

Does anyone know where I can get small nuts and bolts that actually work and are not just stick on parts for show?

I need the heads of the nuts and bolts to be about 3mm across and the threads about 8 / 9 mm long.

Most places I've found so far go down to M2 thread which means the heads are about 5mm across or the parts are purely for decoration and not functional.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Best thought I've got is something like the minitaure train or ship builders might use.  That is pretty small though, I have some small ones but they're probably bigger than 3mm.  I think they came out of some electronics stuff which was stripped down, so that might be a thought as well???

Thanks Alun think I had some years ago for mounting micro switches to circuit board they were pretty small. Maybe a trip to Maplin is needed? Cheers

Found some on Prime Miniatures bit pricey but bang on for size. There goes my Christmas money!

Ye they look good thanks, better price than the others I saw and a better range of sizes too.

Had a word with our maintenance guy at work today and he thinks he might have something suitable.

Going to check them out tomorrow so fingers crossed, should be free to a good home!

Thanks for the replies

Success got the right size from work. Should have a bit of time this weekend to see if they work how I want. Just got a new phone so good excuse to try the camera and post some pics. Thanks again for the replies.
