Re: ROCK LOBSTER

I am stuck.

My problem is if the crustacean variety. More so how to paint one.

I am doing a project involving a 40k Hive tyrant. I want to paint the armour like the shell of a blue lobster. I can`t think HOW to do it.

I`m thinking the salt technique and the airbrush or some how using pigment in tiny spots allowing them to bleed out using a solvent.

But the colour order and specifics are illuding me.

So I open this to the forum. Let the collective wisdom flow forth.

No lobsters were harmed in the formulation of this idea.

Unfortunately I am struggling to take a picture small enough all I want to do is paint the carapace like the shell of a blue lobster. I will post pics as soon as possible.

Just looked up blue lobsters.....
I`d do the colours with the airbrush, basics and highlights then do what the predator painters do and use marker pens to do the spots/ pattern.

Marker pens come in a multitude of colours...

Just reduce the size of the image below 500kb. If you change it to 1000pixrls max that will be fine to show what you want and small enough not to clog up the site.

There are some online resources for resizing photos.  Google "Online Photo Resizer".  Here`s one I found (though never used) http://www.picresize.com/

This is my first attempt. Blue dots using a silicone point on top of layered white and then blue glaze over. This was then capped with gloss varnish
