Re: I went out last night!

Yep, yesterday, for the second time in a month, I actually got out of the house and did something normal. Drove down to Hayle through occasionally really thick fog (apologies to the Escort driver in front and the Toyota HiLuxe behind, for not spotting the lanes going from two down to one), to the Air Cadets` drill hall, where I met up with Paul and spent the evening talking models, techniques and ideas.

I took a couple of kits and a load of potential greebly stuff with me, as well as a scratched attempt at a 1/16 fan Ma.K design fighter and gave the lot to Paul - which means I may have to apologise to his other half for adding to what sounds like an already impressive collection of stuff. Lol! I do hope she didn`t mind!I also took a set of fuselage frames which I`ve made for my take on a sci-fi fighter design created by Grant Regan
http://conceptships.blogspot.co.uk/2007/11/ramjet-fighter-concept-ship.html Scroll down past the police `copter to see the design. I`ve managed to get an approximate length, using the pilot`s head as a guide for measurement, and made a set of frame shapes for the design at 1/24. Had a good talk with another member of the club, really nice chap called Conrad, about casting techniques and ways to create master moulds for the fuselage. I hope to make this a practical lesson in making a resin kit, so it was good to get some ideas and comments on what I`d already worked out.
I am really hopeful that we can start working on clearing out the utility room soon, in which case I can start setting up a decent sized work space for making models again. My son has also said it should be a space set aside for experiments in blowing things up and creating messy chemical disasters. Hmmmmm, not too sure about that.

Great to see you again, Paul. Thanks very much for the invite, it was nice to spend an evening with other modellers and some cool models. Don`t forget to post some pics of the beefed up Hummers etc!

Re: I went out last night!

I got that high density foam order the day after the meet, so I made a start on that fuselage I showed you. I`ve been using the kitchen table as a work space when possible.

I`ll see if I can get some more work done on it and maybe clean the dust off my Ma.K AG bike and bring that down as well. Needs some tlc and a complete respray but I can maybe tinker with it at the hall. Got a 1/12 Yamaha YZR-M1 that I`m kit-bashing into an AG bike too, so I`ll maybe bring that too.
