Revell Special Edition Starfury

Paul mather » Jan 6 '16

I finally got round to building one. It took my about 25 hours. it was a sweet kit in most respects, a couple of small niggle and fit issues, especially the cockpit.

I scratchbuilt guns to make them more accurate and I created custom wing art in photoshop.

Lovely build Paul.  The new decal wingart looks great on this.  Fits really nicely in that middle section.

Still got a few of these stashed away from when Hobbyzone were selling them for about £7 each (some regular and some special edition) and that's a really cool idea to have them as the Playing Card Squad.  An idea for some distant point in the future.

You got a closeup of the guns? Wasn't aware that the kit ones were off.

Check here

SSM produced a kit but its pretty easy to do a rough fix. All I did was file down the ridges and wrapped some plastic tube around

Terrific work! I do like the pilot-customised look to each one. Here's mine:

Thought I'd chip in with 2 I've built:

The Garibaldi Special.  This was based on the poster of Daffy Duck he had in his office (sorry it's a bit dusty):

Was never entirely happy with this as I couldn't weather it properly at the time.  Might be able to do a better job now so maybe will return to it one day.

Was lit though.

And Ivanova's Fury from one of the TV movies.

The rockets were from a 1:72 set and although not exactly right for the on screen I liked the detail on them.

Both excellent, but the Daffy Duck Garibaldi special is amazing!
